Kadu

The Tabs module adds a feature to chat in one window in which you can switch between each conversation by using tabs.

Installation:

  • Check if there's a binary package for your distribution with the module and if so, download and install it.
  • If there is no binary package, you have to compile the module yourself. You can find a thorough compilation description here. This installation method is not recommended for new users.


Running the module:

  • Launch Kadu
  • In the main window press F4 - a Module Manager window will pop up.
  • On the module list find "tabs" entry.
  • Activate the module with a double-click.
  • The module is up and running.


Configuration:

  • In the main Kadu window press F2 - the Kadu configuration will be opened.
  • You will find module configuration options in the "Conversation" bookmark in "Tabs" tab - click it.
  • In the "Overall" section you can set if the tabs are to be used by default, the minimal number of tabs needed to automatically create a window with tabs, tab placement, automatic tab switching and if the conferences should be added to tabs.
  • In the "Appearance" section you can set which buttons will be visible in the tabs window. You can choose between the new tab opening button, the closing active tab button and closing buttons on the tabs.
  • Pressing the Apply or OK button saves the module settings.


Hotkeys:

  • In the main Kadu window press F2 - the Kadu configuration window will be opened.
  • The Tabs module hotkeys can be found where all Kadu hotkeys are - which is the "Hotkeys" bookmark - click it.
  • Next find tab titled "Chat window" - click it.
  • In the "Tabs" section you can assign hotkeys to actions such as moving the tab left or right, going to the left or right tab.
