Brand new, faster server has been sponsored by SILVERCODERS company and partially by ChilAn company. Do you want to give your thanks? Advertise these companies and their products/services ;) You can for example put a banner somewhere (you can find it in sponsors subpage) or just write a few positive words in the internet.

  • Kadu 0.4.3 2005.11.30 (01:40)

New version of Kadu with two richtext support bugs fixed. Considering the fact that it is probably possible to use them to wicked actions ;), upgrade is recommended. One of the fixed bugs was reported by Michał Gizowski.

  • Kadu 0.4.2 2005.10.11 (02:30)

bugfix release

  • Kadu 0.4.1 2005.07.19 (23:30)

Kadu 0.4.1 has been released. It is solely a bugfix release, so new functionality should not be expected (apart from one exception, read on). We fixed a couple of memory leaks, voice chat is more stable, a couple modules were added to the auto download mechanism. But this release carries two important changes as well. One is a fix of a severe security vulnerability in libgadu (the library responsible for communicating with the server). Exploitation of this bug can lead to an abnormal termination of the application (this applies to all libgadu based programs) and possibly remote execution of ANY ARBITRARY code - we highly recommend to update! The second, less important change are enhancements to behavior on MacOS X - text formatting works, as well as picture exchange, the dock icon has a decent resolution, dynamic modules work, etc.

  • Kadu 0.4.0 2005.04.17 (03:25)

After over 9 months since the release of the last version, we present you with the newest version of Kadu, bearing number 0.4.0. The most important changes in this release are:

New features:

  • easy configuration of notifications
  • a whole mechanisms of notifications to ease up the development of plugins
  • new default icon set
  • web browsers integration
  • a configuration wizard
  • enhancements to the support of picture exchange (eg. saving them in the history)
  • voice talks use sound plugins and have a better quality
  • broader configuration possibilites
  • support of the GG 6.1 contact list
  • new modules: desktop_docking, alsa_sound, config_wizard
  • new modules separated from the core: account_management, dcc, hints, notify, window_notify

Fixes:

  • huge cleanups in network support, thanks to which Kadu is now much more stable in case of connection trouble
  • direct connections work much more reliably now
  • lots of optimalization, so that Kadu is now faster and uses less memory
  • workaround for Qt bugs related to text selecting and copying
  • a few memory leaks fixed (e.g. dsp_sound, emoticons and pictures)
  • support for sending large images
  • better support for proxy connections

and a lot more new features and fixes (over 370!)

What's more, during the development of this version independent programmers created many additional modules, among which the most popular are: dcopexport (allowing commandline control and the support of a gg:uin URL support in browsers), ext_info (additional information fields), led_notify, miastoplusa_sms, pcspeaker, spy (invisible users detection), tabs, weather, xosd_notify. The "old" modules should also be mentioned: tcl_scripting, amarok, mail, spellchecker, xmms.

Although Kadu will compile and run with Qt 3.0 and 3.1, we recommend using at least the 3.2 version.
